We're back, yo.

Let's not create a fuss at our coolness... So here are the participants from our previous prompt, February tWR Prompt: Lost in Space!

ShipwreckedSilent as a foreign, bronze god in its shape,
Toward an endless sleep it cannot escape.
There is whiteness in space, centuries of sand
That must be collected by speck and by strand.
Already belonging to a spotless sea,
Figures still litter like an ancient algae.
The mind drowns, wanders when the spirit is weak;
The eyes too heavy to see the crude fuel leak.
Is it noble to die a slave, a machine
Meant just to clean...or a thing free from routine -
Silent as a foreign, bronze god in its shape,
Toward an endless sleep it cannot escape?
There is whiteness in space, centuries of sand
That must be collected by speck and by strand.
They remind me of floating youth left at dawn
From a faraway star dispersed and now gone.
Forever is a last stand, an intimate
Landing pad for when our ships can't hold the weight
And in the greedy blackness of all, they fall
On marble rocks. An orbit's pull cannot call
Us to surfaces, but instead we must crash.
A small planet awaits my vessel of trash,
Silent as a
Cute and CuddlyUgh...my head hurts...that'll teach me to drink with the locals, honestly...
I look around, my sight blurring even more with the motion. A feeling of nausea rises in my throat, but I just about manage to gulp it down.
I look up to the brilliant blue sky, illuminated by two suns and mutter, "This ain't Sol, that's for sure...where the hell am I...?"
Slowly, fragments of my memory come back to me, pushing into my mind like the tides push the waters on the previously dry beach.
My name is Marcus Wastagor and, like my surname suggests, I'm from a long family of proud service people...the guys who pick up your trash and take it away to be precise.
I remember an uncharted phenomenon in the starburst sector I was working in to cause my spatial engine to go haywire, catapulting me to the edge of nowhere.
Slowly and foggy the events fall back into place on the great white canvas that is supposed to be my memory. After the unplanned jump, I came out in a completely unknown sector.
And to

If you didn't know we award 100 :points: to a random participant and this month's lucky recipient is...SedahLiah! Congratulations! :happehwinner:

Food. We all eat it--Some more than we should, others less, and some just the right amount. Some follow strict dietary rules; others simply stuff our faces with whatever is handy. Some of us eat out of a box or tupperware; others on fine china and silver. Everyone's food ritual is unique to the individual, our habits grown out of our geography, social class, religion, economic status, and countless other influences.

The Prompt

Write from the perspective of one eating something for the first time, or for the last time. The primary focus should not be on the food itself, but rather on the eater's process and experience. Do they know it's their last meal? Do they opt to swallow it down with as few bites as possible? It's up to you!

Guidelines:

  • Prose: 750-1500 words
  • Poetry: 50 lines maximum

Looking for a harder challenge?

  • Hard Mode: The food must taste absolutely awful to the eater.
  • Difficulty Level 9000: Do not use the words "bite," "chew," "swallow," or "ingest."

Chat Event and Prizes!

As always, 100 :points: points will be awarded to a random participant.

The chat event will be held on :new: Saturday, March 19, at 10:00AM PST :new: (Los Angeles, California time). To know what time is that for you, CLICK HERE. Alright, the kitchen's cold and here's what the chef cooked up.

Not my best piece ever, but I think with these requirements (and my general ineptitude towards food :P) I did fairly well. :)
Thanks for the prompt. :)
