Welcome to the fifty-seventh issue of my weekly news article, Love dA Lit! :xmas: Every Sunday this news article will aim to promote volunteer opportunities, various resources, prompts, challenges, and workshops, as well as highlighting various contests, interviewing various members of the literature community and spotlighting a specific group every week. This is by no means a complete list of all the literature going-ons, merely a tool to help you get involved and stay informed.

This Week's Group Spotlight

:spotlight-left: :iconword-smiths: :spotlight-right:

Word-Smiths is a group showcasing deviant's best literary work. With an extensive team covering many different literature forms Word-Smiths scours dA's literature to find amazing works to place in their gallery. Learn more about this group by clicking here!

The ever brilliant Poetrymann took some time to answer a few questions ragarding his group, Word-Smiths.

:star:How is Word-Smiths different from the other literature groups on dA?
I don’t know that we are, really. Those that are different tend to focus on particular themes or styles, or foster critique and/or collaboration. I think that is great and very much needed. We are just a group that wants to foster the best in writers and try to promote their quality works to a larger audience. I think the “staff” at Wordsmiths is extremely talented and I have the utmost respect for all of them. I also applaud them because I feel that they do an excellent job of seeing past their personal tastes and preferences when it comes to selecting the works for our galleries.

:star:You founded the group over a year ago and have maintained it's firm but fair stance on the quality work submitted. Has Word-Smiths exceeded your initial expectations from when you first began the group? How so?
Yes, it has. It has made me even more aware of how many wonderful writers are here at DA. It also has made me aware of how many of them do not realize or recognize their abilities, or seem hesitant to actively promote themselves as if worried about appearing vain or arrogant. I think a lot of writers are afraid to submit work because of that very natural dislike of “rejection”. We all view that very personally, as if it negates our talents or even ourselves. I look at it as simply meaning the piece just was not what the group wanted.

:star:Word-Smiths has branched out and even has it's own wordpress account, can you tell me a bit more about this?
Yes, it has. It has made me even more aware of how many wonderful writers are here at DA. It also has made me aware of how many of them do not realize or recognize their abilities, or seem hesitant to actively promote themselves as if worried about appearing vain or arrogant. I think a lot of writers are afraid to submit work because of that very natural dislike of “rejection”. We all view that very personally, as if it negates our talents or even ourselves. I look at it as simply meaning the piece just was not what the group wanted.
