Authors-of-Fantasy is a group "dedicated to helping authors of fantasy and science fiction based stories get constructive feedback and share links and articles on the writing process." They have a weekly member feature and each month host a "Feedback Pack" that pairs members up and encourages them to comment and help each other. Learn more about this group by clicking here!
The lovely MidoriiBlue took the time to answer a few questions concerning her group, Authors-of-Fantasy.
[Star!]How is Authors-of-Fantasy different from the other literature groups on dA?
Authors of Fantasy is a group dedicated to authors of an ongoing (mostly novels, novella’s, etc.) storyline related to fantasy or science fiction. The thing that makes us most different is that each storyline gets its own gallery. We also do a weekly feature, systematically going through the gallery list so eventually each story gets featured.
In my mind, the main goal of this group is to bring together authors to support each other with comments, critiques, as well as sharing ideas and information. The set up of this group also allows a large number of fantasy and sci-fi storylines to be cached in one place for readers to enjoy.
[Star!]Every month, Authors-of-Fantasy and it's sister group ,FantasyLiterature, host a "Feedback Pack", can you tell me more about that? And has it been successful?
Feedback Pack is designed to help those of us who write lengthy prose get more of the constructive comments we love. The average DA commenter may often be intimidated by the large amount of reading involved in short stories and storyline chapters. Feedback Pack facilitates a greater interaction of deviants by pairing up participants and requiring a minimum of three comments for each. Deviants can choose to participate on a month-by-month basis.
I think Feedback Pack has been successful. It may be getting a slow start, but I have had several deviants tell me that they are so happy to participate and there are several that have stayed on for all of the sessions so far. I really look forward to seeing our “Pack” continue to grow!
[Star!]Your group focuses on Fantasy, what do you think is the hardest thing to write about in this genre? Why?
Writers of all genre’s face challenges, but fantasy definitely has it’s unique hang-ups. The most obvious is the fact that the setting is often in an unknown world, with its own rules and history far from our own. World building, while it can be a blast, is overall an exhausting process of catching the details that matter and not focusing too much on those that don’t. Even those writers who use the existing world must create a unique sub-culture that utilizes the fantasy elements.
I would also mention our sci-fi writers in this. Although it’s not technically fantasy, we still include the genre as it often has similar elements of fabricated (alien) worlds and histories. I think the sci-fi writer’s biggest challenge is interpreting massively complicated technological elements in a way that makes sense to the average person.
[Star!]Anything else of note that you would like to share?
I would like to thank you Steph for the honor of being interviewed and for being so supportive in the DA Lit community… You are a gem!
I would also like to thank our new co-founder betwixtthepages for taking on extra duties and helping the group run smoothly! I couldn’t keep up without her!

Checking In
It's been quite a while since my last journal entry, about five years. I hope whoever is reading this knows I've never forgotten anyone and I think of all the friends I made here with such love and joy. I'm not sure how many people still linger on DA, but I hope that if you somehow stumble back to my page you know that I love you and wish you well. There is simply too much to go over for the span of five years, so I'll keep it short and sweet. I love you and I missed you. I know I do not elaborate much on my personal life, but perhaps now that so much is behind me I can allow myself to discuss it more. In truth, I'm not even sure where to begin, but updating on what happened in the la
Birthdays and Change
I wanted to thank all the lovelies who wished me happy birthday recently, I read all your comments and it made me extremely happy. ♥ It was nice to hop on and see that I was thought of, I truly appreciate it beyond words.
However, I know have been very absent for a few months now. Things have not be going well in my life for the majority of the year (and if I'm honest the last 2 years) now and I have had to put DA on the back burner. I still find myself coming to the site, reading comments/replies, looking at deviations, but currently I am overwhelmed by everything that I can't bring myself to do much else.
I find myself now on the pr
